Just a quick post to keep everybody updated:
Right now I am in Kuala Lumpur (KL). I just arrived after a 28h ride by bus and train. But you really have to love night trains that drive across the whole country and cost $12!
Well, I am checked into a crummy place here, but no matter, I am just passing through anyways. I just hope that the SARS stays contained down there in Singapor, because that is my destination for the weekend to see Sven and Manuela and party some.
Last weekend I did a little trip in the vicinity of Bkk, Lopbuir to be more specific. The town is only 150km away, yet it seems so much further. Whole parts of the town are populted by pesky little monkeys. They are all over the place and steal people's bags and wares from the stores. Shopowners guard against them with slingshots. Man, I really wanted to try my hand one of those things...The city also had some temples to offer, which were also populated by monkeys. At one place, they even fed them lavishly! They must have been the most content monkeys on the face of this earth, all the bananas you want, and some tourists to steal from freely. We also went to a bat cave that houses several million bats. We walked right up to the mouth of the cave, jsut as they were flying out. And see there, stupid thing flies right into me, about to make a picture of the cave! Man, did I shit my pants. I droped to the floor, along with the bat, and we both went our seperate wazs.
At night, we went to the local bar/club with live music. Man, I was never hit on so openly by girls and guys! Scary,all of a sudden, the prey became the hunted. But still bit was good fun, and yes, Thai whisky good, Thai cigarette good, Thai women good (quotes from some drunk guy).
